The Mellow Mushroom is a fun and pizza joint in Park Plaza at the south end of Hilton Head Island. (in front of Sea Pines) . The restaurant caters to families, but they also host as a hot spot for the late crowd as a comfortable hang-out.
The Mellow Mushroom is a great stop before the movies and seems to also be a great stop during your lunch break. There are large whimsical mushroom statues and the mascot, Dude Shroomington is found surfing a long wave on one of the walls.
Order your pizza any way you want it. Add healthy items like tofu, roasted red peppers or choose the popular sausage, pepperoni jerk chicken and much more. The menu offers more than just pizza (as good as it is) but it also offers hoagies, salads, and calzones.
We ordered a simple pepperoni pizza and it was one of the best pizzas I have ever tasted. Yes, it was that good. If you are in Hilton Head for a few days, stop by here. Unfortunately, we had terrible service when we went. The waitress did not refill our drinks or check up on us, (and the place was not even close to full) but we still give this place a "thumbs up."
