General Information

What to expect: During school holidays, families create a lively atmosphere, and golfers and couples arrive year-round. The resort's beach frontage includes a tranquil wooden deck partially sheltered by sand dunes and partially shaded by a wooden arbor that contains rocking chairs and a swing. Graced by orchids, a two-story marble-floor lobby includes widely separated seating areas for quiet conversation.

Amenity highlights: Marriott Hilton Head Golf Resort has two outdoor swimming pools, one for swimming and the other for children to dive and jump into, and a 30-foot square indoor pool and four-person spa tub in a glass-ceilinged pavilion. Fat-tire rental bicycles (adult, child, and adult-child tandem) suitable for beach and Hilton Head Island's miles of bike paths, are available for rent, as are kayaks and canoes for touring Palmetto Dunes's 11 miles of lagoons.

Insider tip: From early April until early September, the Palmetto Dunes Buggy can be called for complimentary shuttle service within the 2,000-acre Palmetto Dunes residential/resort community, of which this resort is a part, and to the Mall at Shelter Cove one mile away.
